The Centre has three committees responsible for the overall coordination of courses conducted across the faculties in the University. These are the Course Committee, Testing Committee and Workload Committee. These committees work closely with the various course coordinators to streamline the diverse job responsibilities of the teaching staff. Course Committee The Course Committee’s main task is to review CELC’s courses in the following areas: objectives, syllabus focus, materials, methodology and effectiveness in meeting the needs of students in the various faculties. It also recommends changes to current courses in order to achieve a focused syllabus, optimal learning achievement for each student and economy of time. Testing Committee The Testing Committee oversees all examinations conducted by the Centre, except those for the postgraduate courses. It edits all final examination papers and suggests changes when necessary. It also prepares and organises the Qualifying English Test (QET) held yearly to evaluate the English proficiency of in-coming first year students. Workload Committee The Workload Committee provides feedback and makes suggestions to the CELC Director regarding staff members’ workload in order to achieve as equitable a distribution of duties as possible. |
